ok so i was very disheartened when i got my mark, im sure most people were. luckily i can fix the problems reasonably easily. i hope that i can pull it off, i know its a family issue and one which shouldn't need to be discussed but i have a lot to live up to in drama with my brother being my brother and before i was willing to accept that yeah, he can act extremely well and i shouldnt even bother. but now i have been encouraged by not only ms mace but by all of you that perhaps i can do it. i just have to lose all self doubt or self conciousness and focus on doing well and takign the audience on a journey with me and making them believe that i really am a mother. i just hope that it comes across well.
as for the class. you are all so wonderful! i think that by working together as a team we have really managed to pull this together when i'm sure all of us had some doubts a few weeks ago. i mean come on! look at us! we ran through the entire play on sunday with very few mistakes, mistakes which can be fixed so easily with tomorrows practice performance. i know this sounds really over the top and sappy but i really am proud of all of us. this is a really tricky play, combining serious and comdey elements. so bravo to us all. you're an amazing class and you're all awesome!
tomorrow will not just be another day, it will be a final wake up call for us all. but we have to remember, the play is amazing and we will all be fine provided we stay strong and keep it all together. that compliment exercise i found really helped to boost everyone's confidence so ms mace that was an awesome idea.
and MACEY!! thank you so much for helping us to get here and believing in us (if only on the outside - jokiiiiiiing!!) from the very beginning. you have spent so many hours helping us and it is very much appreciated. (pink yaaaay!)
bec. i'm sorry for shouting at you whilst on stage on sunday. i didnt mean to sound like a horrible bitch but im sure thats how it came across. that scene was just very stressful for me as i hadn't worked on it properly before EVER without crying ha! so yeah i was just freaking out. i didnt mean to sound rude. but yeah, you know i love you!

new post
well, performance is next week....aaaaarrrrggghhhh!!! no not really. i'm sure it will be ok in the end. i am really bored right now. victoria is sitting with me and NOT telling me what to write. silly fool!
anyway. i brought my costume to school today. it had better be ok seeing as i had no advice on what to bring ah well if its not then its not.
victoria wants to be bald! baaahahaahahaha. look at her blog! its funny :D
i hope we can do a full run through soon. the bits we did on sunday was really good and it made me more excited about the prospect of performing.
well seeing as i really dont know what to write, in the words of victoria, "i must away. weeds to eat bugs to munch!" she just read that and said well done. hurah!

hmph, bored!
another day, another drama rehersal, another blog. i make that sound like a bad thing but i am actually really enjoying the rehersals. they're a lot of fun!
well the first act is over and done with, now we just have to focus on the second act. ah well, if ms mace has faith, i have faith! joking but i do think we will pull it all together and i really hope we do!
ok so the teachers are taking a lot of convincing to give us extentions. i swear victoria and i spent about half of one maths lesson tring to stand our ground against the likes of father alan, ally (f), tavis and gary and the people who say they should have an extention for footy. victoria and i explained that football is a choice. drama is a subject in school and taking this subject means it is compulsary to do the play. it went on and on but ah well i'm sure they didn't mind in the end as they all got an extra 2 weeks aswell!
back to drama it is going really well i think, ocnsidering the circumstances of very little time. the extra hours on thursday and friday will really help though. i still vote for the sleep over! hehe! the musical one was so much fun!
i can't wait to rin through the whole play, it's so exciting.
ok so idea's right?
erm.....yea so that was twiggy. she was the first stick thin model and i may have looked up to her as a role model when i was the same age as the girl. did i have an enjoyable childhood? yes i think i did. possible weight
issues though.

- hmm yes well ms mace said i would have been a teen in the sixties and twiggy may have been my role model. this is a picture of her:
erm.....yea so that was twiggy. she was the first stick thin model and i may have looked up to her as a role model when i was the same age as the girl. did i have an enjoyable childhood? yes i think i did. possible weight
issues though.
- so why do i comment on her "puppy fat" and feel she needs to change. maybe when i was younger i had friend or a sister (maybe aunty pat!!!) who was fat and got made fun of, or maybe i was the fat one. i wouldn't want this to happen to my baby so i would encourage her not to eat certain things
- what my mum says to me sometimes: "should you really be eating that?" "you have that dress to fit into you know, i want it to look good" "do you really need that or do you just like the taste?" "you'll thank me when you're older" and "i'm just trying to save you from yourself" ok so this makes my mum sound liek the biggest bitch, she's not. just letting all of you who havn't met her know that she is lovely and i love her very much even if she does hint that i need to lose weight! hehe.
- ask why she says this, is there a reason for concern, health? my future happiness? use this to show similar concern for girl's health or weight or image.
- why am i married to the dad? he is a doctor, does that mean i am a trophy wife? consider my reasons for being with him. how did we meet? at school? uni maybe? or even at the doctors depending on his age compared to mine.

it has begun!
well then, we have started rehersing properly! yaaay!
although there is not a great amount of focus in our class we are slowly but surely working our way through the scenes. so far we have done the fairytale scene and the ugly duckling scene. i have surprisingly managed to learn half of my first monologue but i knwo that i have a long way to go. i am really impressed by jenna having learnt most of her lines. she also protrays a small child really well that i actually forgot that she was my age!
ok so this is what i need to do:
yay!! tshirts should be coming soonish now that we have sizes! black with blue writing, sounds good. at least there will be no sweat marks...eeeeeew!
oh yeah and did everyone like my collage at the bottom of my page? if you havnt looked at it, you should! and i'm sorry if you're not in it, i just dont have a picture with you yet so my apologies!!
excitement!! xxx

ok so this is what i need to do:
- look at mothers and how they act around their children
- son, daughter - different??
- age different? - research mothers who have had a child go through an eating disorder, how they felt, try to get an idea for tone of voice and movement from that
- watch married couples, see how they act around each other. is it obvious when there is tension between them? if yes how is this shown?
- look at how people of the appropriate age walk, stand, act towards others outside of the family
- formal address - doctors, informal address - friends, children's friends - listen to tone of voice when speaking to younger and older children when angry, soothing or content
- become more comfortable in working closely with "family members" in order to show realistic closeness on stage.

casting
so....we were cast today. it was really strange because me, jenna, adele, maddy and knowlsey were kept outside and we didn't know why. this was perhaps not a very good move because after the lesson people were like "that was so rude" and acting like it was our fault and all this stuff!! ah well, at least we know it wasn't anyones fault.
as far as the casting goes i think it was pretty well organised. i really didn't expect to get mum especially when we were outside and discussing it. i really thought that i was going to get friend. but i dont' mind. i'll try as hard as i can to memorise the words! a two page monologue!! gaaaah!
i'm really looking forward to doing this now, i'm sure it will turn out really well because from what i've heard people, including myself, are starting to read through their lines and highlighting and stuff which is a good start.
i think ally will be really good as the costume designer. this is because not only does she have a cool yet different sense of style, she also seems to be very creative and has ideas already.
josh will obviously be awesome at the music side of things because he is awesome at music! duh! he also has been telling me some really cool ideas for the music, even though bec and ally were harassing him as to why he chose it...he just did ok girls! haha!
well i dont really know what else to write. can someone please tell me what days we're coming in to reherse etc? thanks xxx

characters and stuff, sorry about the bitchiness!!
well, the other day we were informed that we have a problem of division in our class. i suppose i noticed it, it didn't really bother me though. however i suppose it will be easier for us all to work together if we're all together. hmm...... what else has happened... we played some fun games to build up our team skills. now we've started doing a moved reading of the play. it's ok i guess, i know it will get better though because i remember finding other readings slightly dull too.
now, on to characters. i would really like to play the voice. speaking of the voice, sorry to everyone for todays lesson if i was erm....bitchy. i was just p'd off a little because i havn't really got to do anything the whole time we've been doing this and then finally YES i get to have a go at the part that i want and i dont get to do anything. just explaining myself. i was also already in a bad mood. ok enough of that i just didnt want people to get the wrong idea and think i was just being selfish or whatever.
ok other than the voice i suppose i wouldn't mind being one of those people who do lots of little characters. i dont really mind what i get though because it's not in my control so there we go.
i cant wait untill it is casted and we can really get going with it. that's when it starts to get fun.
hope everyone's having a good day

th plays have arrived, well almost!
we have been given a choice (ish) out of three plays; rhinoceros, cloud street and mirror mirror.
MY OPINIONS:
i think that rhinoceros sounds silly. this is probably because i havn't read the play and no nothing about it, but just the thought of us dressed up as rhinos for our year 12 production...its kinda funny. this play would not get my vote
cloud street sounds like it could be really good, however, ms mace said that it was like all sex scenes and i dont know what would happen if we took them out....or left them in for that matter. i know we'd find a way around it but still, it could be either a controversial disaster or a great success. if i was to choose out of this and rhinoseros i would definately chose this one.
mirror mirror sounds fantastic. the issue that it focus' on, anorexia and eating disorders is so relevant to our society and an issue which needs to be addressed. i think that people can learn from this play whilst also being able to enjoy a bright and colourful performance. this play would definately get my vote over the others! i really hope we can do it.
i'm really looking forward to doing the production. i also think that it is a great idea to simply cast the roles rather than audition them. this is because, this is just my view, but i feel that in the class i can express myself more and i feel less selfconcious rather than if i was to say a few lines infront of a 'judge'. nerves can alter a person's performance dramatically and it would be a shame to hinder someones chances of getting the role they want simply because of this.

the jack davis essay argh!!
i think that doing the essay would have been a lot (i just wrote kit instead of lot twice and deleted it...i hate typos!) anyway, a lot easier if i had studies both books in equal depth. i had only read over honey spot quickly to get it out of the way and then had to go back and annotate it. the essay was extremely difficult, partly because i found the question a bit hard to understand, i wasn't exactly sure what was being asked from it. the difficulty also came from my lack of motivation and inspiration! i get distracted so easily, especially by msn and myspace, as brilliant as they are i sometimes wish i didn't have them because that way i wouldn't get side tracked! well it's done now anyway and i wont have to think about those play again until term three!! hoorahh!!!
Jack Davis...hmm...
well a couple of weeks ago we started reading through "the dreamers" by jack davis, a contempory innovator. although the play was a bit on the boring side, it is quite interesting with a lot of depth when you realy look into it. it was difficult to stay on task because, like me, alot of the class became distracted and restless and the play is not exaclt enthralling! this made it difficult ti really focus on the play and discover its meanings etc. this play requires a lot of concentration as there are key elements which if you miss could give you a different view on the whole scene of play, however having to concentrate so hard for so many lessons can get extremely tiring. i played a variety of parts such as dolly, one of the people who walk across the escarpment and i was also reading out the stage directions for a bit. it is very difficult to get into a character without any rehersal so reading was often all that happened, rather than full involvment.
then came the essay.....oh god!!!
then came the essay.....oh god!!!

week one
Now onto the first week of drama (i thought we were handing this is so it is written in a slightly more formal tone - and possibly even more - shock horror - boring than the intro!):
having done drama last year, i recognised all of the people in our class as i walked in. it was good to see faces who i hadn't worked with too, either from the other class last year or who were new to drama as its always cool to work with new people. alot of hte people are very talented and it was easy to see this even from the first few lessons.
although most of the people in the class are enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with, however, we were told not to name names so i wont but there is one partictular person who has struck me as a difficult person to work and co operate with, you may be able to guess who it is.
i found the critisizm game very difficult to do, although the insults were untrue, i was still consious of hurting other peoples feelings. the compliments were also tricky to do if you didn't know the person very well, it was a good "get to know you" game though.
i think the group is working well together and i am really excited to see
1) what the yr 12 play is going to be and
2) how good it is going to be. i'm sure that if well all work together how we are now, it will be a great success. HOORAH!!!

first "journal of the future" fun fun fun.....*looks around*
hello fellow loser bloggers!!
this is trinity's - cheap imitation of myspace - alternative to a journal....interesting no?...NO!!! we have to write about our lessons, feelings and whatever we want really, as long as it's relevant to drama. i'm guessing anyone who will be reading this will know though as you are either ms. mace or one of her students...hopefully!!
anywho so i have been told to tell you about myself:
my name is holly, i'm in year 12 and studying drama. it's been pretty easy so far but we haven't started any proper work yet so i'm guessing that this is about to change!!
we are being assessed on this. that's why i'm doing this, i don't have THAT much free time! well feel free to comment or whatever, i'm guessing that you do that on here.
i don't really know what else for my introduction so i'll stop now.
BYEEEE!!!
