we have been given a choice (ish) out of three plays; rhinoceros, cloud street and mirror mirror.
MY OPINIONS:
i think that rhinoceros sounds silly. this is probably because i havn't read the play and no nothing about it, but just the thought of us dressed up as rhinos for our year 12 production...its kinda funny. this play would not get my vote
cloud street sounds like it could be really good, however, ms mace said that it was like all sex scenes and i dont know what would happen if we took them out....or left them in for that matter. i know we'd find a way around it but still, it could be either a controversial disaster or a great success. if i was to choose out of this and rhinoseros i would definately chose this one.
mirror mirror sounds fantastic. the issue that it focus' on, anorexia and eating disorders is so relevant to our society and an issue which needs to be addressed. i think that people can learn from this play whilst also being able to enjoy a bright and colourful performance. this play would definately get my vote over the others! i really hope we can do it.
i'm really looking forward to doing the production. i also think that it is a great idea to simply cast the roles rather than audition them. this is because, this is just my view, but i feel that in the class i can express myself more and i feel less selfconcious rather than if i was to say a few lines infront of a 'judge'. nerves can alter a person's performance dramatically and it would be a shame to hinder someones chances of getting the role they want simply because of this.

the jack davis essay argh!!
i think that doing the essay would have been a lot (i just wrote kit instead of lot twice and deleted it...i hate typos!) anyway, a lot easier if i had studies both books in equal depth. i had only read over honey spot quickly to get it out of the way and then had to go back and annotate it. the essay was extremely difficult, partly because i found the question a bit hard to understand, i wasn't exactly sure what was being asked from it. the difficulty also came from my lack of motivation and inspiration! i get distracted so easily, especially by msn and myspace, as brilliant as they are i sometimes wish i didn't have them because that way i wouldn't get side tracked! well it's done now anyway and i wont have to think about those play again until term three!! hoorahh!!!
Jack Davis...hmm...
well a couple of weeks ago we started reading through "the dreamers" by jack davis, a contempory innovator. although the play was a bit on the boring side, it is quite interesting with a lot of depth when you realy look into it. it was difficult to stay on task because, like me, alot of the class became distracted and restless and the play is not exaclt enthralling! this made it difficult ti really focus on the play and discover its meanings etc. this play requires a lot of concentration as there are key elements which if you miss could give you a different view on the whole scene of play, however having to concentrate so hard for so many lessons can get extremely tiring. i played a variety of parts such as dolly, one of the people who walk across the escarpment and i was also reading out the stage directions for a bit. it is very difficult to get into a character without any rehersal so reading was often all that happened, rather than full involvment.
then came the essay.....oh god!!!

week one
Now onto the first week of drama (i thought we were handing this is so it is written in a slightly more formal tone - and possibly even more - shock horror - boring than the intro!):
having done drama last year, i recognised all of the people in our class as i walked in. it was good to see faces who i hadn't worked with too, either from the other class last year or who were new to drama as its always cool to work with new people. alot of hte people are very talented and it was easy to see this even from the first few lessons.
although most of the people in the class are enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with, however, we were told not to name names so i wont but there is one partictular person who has struck me as a difficult person to work and co operate with, you may be able to guess who it is.
i found the critisizm game very difficult to do, although the insults were untrue, i was still consious of hurting other peoples feelings. the compliments were also tricky to do if you didn't know the person very well, it was a good "get to know you" game though.
i think the group is working well together and i am really excited to see
1) what the yr 12 play is going to be and
2) how good it is going to be. i'm sure that if well all work together how we are now, it will be a great success. HOORAH!!!

first "journal of the future" fun fun fun.....*looks around*
hello fellow loser bloggers!!
this is trinity's - cheap imitation of myspace - alternative to a journal....interesting no?...NO!!! we have to write about our lessons, feelings and whatever we want really, as long as it's relevant to drama. i'm guessing anyone who will be reading this will know though as you are either ms. mace or one of her students...hopefully!!
anywho so i have been told to tell you about myself:
my name is holly, i'm in year 12 and studying drama. it's been pretty easy so far but we haven't started any proper work yet so i'm guessing that this is about to change!!
we are being assessed on this. that's why i'm doing this, i don't have THAT much free time! well feel free to comment or whatever, i'm guessing that you do that on here.
i don't really know what else for my introduction so i'll stop now.
BYEEEE!!!
